Glickenhaus previews faster SCG004 CS

US car maker confirms faster CS version of soon-to-be-launched supercar coming, will be based on GT3 racer

Scuderia Cameron Glickenhaus has posted two images on its social media feeds of a faster, more hard-core version of its forthcoming SCG004.

They are claimed to preview the motorsport-focussed GTE, GT3 and GT4 versions of the existing SCG004, but Glickenhaus has also confirmed it will spin off a more extreme version of its forthcoming supercar to create a road-going rival for the Ferrari 488 Pista.

Sporting an aggressive new aero package, the renderings also show the SCG004 racer features anti-dive planes, fender extractor vents, a central roof-mounted air intake and a huge rear spoiler.

The poorly cropped side profile image also appears to show a large front splitter and the trailing edge of a gigantic rear diffuser.

The US car-maker hasn't divulged any more details about either the race cars or the road-legal CS, other than to say that the faster SCG004 CS will be on sale in 2020.

As well as having a redesigned aero package, the race-inspired SCG004 CS is thought to be lighter and get even more power than the standard SCG004 S, which will come with around 515kW.

Also likely is that all versions will share the same VR38DETT 3.8-litre twin-turbo V6 that's sourced from the Nissan GT-R.

Weighing in at less than 1179kg, the standard car is claimed to have a better power-to-weight ratio than a McLaren 720S.

Sticking with the McLaren theme, the Glickenhaus supercar will position its driver centrally, exactly the same as the original F1.

The US car-maker says a manual version will be offered for purists alongside the faster two-pedal version.

No performance figures have been released, but it's thought the latest SCG model will hit 100km/h in less than three seconds and top out at more than 330km/h.

Production is due to begin at the end of this year and Glickenhaus hopes it will make around 250 SCG004s a year.

Pricing will begin at around $400,000 ($A530,000), although the first batch of 2018 cars are already sold out.
