Global music superstar Khalid inspires electric BMW Coachella rides

Get your flower crowns, striped festival shirts and Instagram filters at the ready, Coachella is back and with a unique BMW EV flavour.

Global music superstar Khalid has lent his name and album cover artwork to a fleet of BMW i8 electric sports cars for this year's Coachella Music Festival. Khalid of Young Dumb & Broke, Love Lies and Eastside fame is a BMW ambassador and a car fan owning a couple of super lux cars and SUVs which is a must when you live in LA, are 21 years old and chart well all over the globe. Obviously.

The fleet of BMW i8 electric sports cars will be on hand for the stars and featured artists to be chauffeured around in style as well as being available to drive around the Palm Springs area. Oh wouldn't it be nice to be famous... You’ll be able to spot them a mile away too, besides from the out-there and futuristic style of the i8 itself, Khalid’s unique exterior warp design features flames, a kaleidoscope of colours and the image of a wolf, so get your camera ready.

‘I love road-tripping, hopping in my car and driving back home to El Paso is 12 hours each way from LA.... I really feel like a free spirit when I’m driving and listening to music. I love making music that you can crank up and drive to with the windows down’, says Khalid.

BMW is no stranger to crazy patterns and coloured cars, the most famous one of them all is Ken Done's BMW Art Car from 1989 which we've covered in Old School. A masterpiece with a lot less commercial influence...
