GM reveals 2017 Holden Colorado

Facelifted Holden one-tonner breaks cover in Brazil via Chevrolet

Holden's upgraded 2017 Colorado ute has been revealed in the form of the Chevrolet S10 dual-cab in Brazil, ahead of its Australian release in August.

So far there's no sign of Holden's 2017 Trailblazer, as the facelifted Colorado 7 SUV is expected to be called, but the revised ute and SUV were previewed by the Holden-designed Colorado Xtreme and Trailblazer Premier concept vehicles at the Bangkok motor show in March.

Both Colorado models share the same ladder chassis and diesel engine, and the yet-to-appear SUV will bring the same design, technology and engineering improvements seen in the Colorado ute.

Cosmetically, Holden says the new-look Colorado's more angular and purposeful lines are "a nod to its American-truck DNA, giving it strong proportions to ensure it looks robust and tough, reflecting its serious off road capability".

A slimmer, extended grille, LED daytime running lights and more muscular bonnet are said to communicate power, strength and prestige.

Inside is "a full styling makeover that focuses on comfort, spaciousness, refinement and technology", says Holden, courtesy of a new-look dashboard and seat trims, a redesigned centre console and more soft-touch surfaces.

The highlight is a new 8.0-inch colour touch-screen that adopts GM's latest MyLink infotainment system including Apple CarPlay and Android Auto smartphone mirroring.

There's also a range of new genuine Holden accessories inspired by those seen on the Colorado Xtreme, of which 70 per cent will be available for the 2017 Colorado. New additions will include a safari bar, sports bar and alloy wheels options.

Finally, Holden claims its engineers collaborated with their overseas GM colleagues to give range revised Colorado "a more refined, comfortable drive without losing any of the capable, tough characteristics it is known for".

“The Chevrolet Colorado revealed by our Brazilian colleagues is the result of ongoing work between Holden and Chevrolet Brazil and a clear indication of where the Holden Colorado is heading,” said Holden’s executive director of sales, Peter Keley.

“With significant local engineering, this vehicle will be the most refined Colorado ever while maintaining all of the capability of the current model. When combined with a new design that balances elegance and strength, it will perfectly bridge the gap between weekday workhorse and weekend explorer."
