If you miss out on the classic Falcon GT HO at the Shannons Melbourne Summer Auction next week, there's also the Lamborghini Gallardo Spyder on offer. The rare Italian supercar has come up for sale at the auction on Monday November 26 and is estimated to be in roughly the same price range as the 1970 Ford.
The auction house is selling the Gallardo "on behalf of a major financial institution" and expects the car to fetch between $350,000 and $400,000. When new, the Gallardo Spyder was priced at $439,999, but this particular car comes with a number of options which would have raised the retail figure by a further sum of $74,500.
The car in question is finished in an optional three-layer premium exterior paint named 'Giallo Midas' and is trimmed in 'Nero Perseus' leather. Other options specified include the 'E-Gear' paddle-shift sequential gear-change system, electric heated seats, anti-theft alarm, navigation system, on-board computer, reversing camera and a 'lifting system' for the front wheels to clear speed humps.
The Gallardo is generally regarded as a practical supercar, but still boasts a 5.0-litre V10 which develops 388kW of power at 8000rpm and propels the aluminium-bodied sports car to 100km/h in just 4.3 seconds. Top speed is 314km/h. The car has travelled 10,030km since its purchase new in 2006 and represents a potential saving of at least $100,000 off the car's new replacement value.
