Google Maps is preparing to introduce a raft of updates designed to make it easier to find a fast and unoccupied public charger for your EV.
According to the tech giant, new AI-powered summaries will finally end the confusion with finding EV chargers in notoriously tricky multi-storey car parks, with detailed descriptions soon to be offered that borrow from the learnings of countless other users who have posted feedback via its reviews.
Better still, additional useful information will also be offered, including reviews of the chargers themselves, with the AI bots telling you average wait times, charging speeds and whether the chargers are currently operating.
Cars that have built-in Google-powered infotainment systems will also be able to alert drivers of real-time charging speeds and live updates on how many free chargers are available before your arrival.
Google-powered infotainment systems can already use maps to help plan a road trip with your EV, accounting for your vehicle’s average energy consumption before suggesting the best charging stops along the way.
The same app can even suggest the best hotel to stay at overnight, based on on-site or nearby chargers.
