Google has confirmed it will roll out its latest artificial intelligence (AI) technology for Android Auto that will cut the amount of time a driver will need to look at their car’s infotainment screen.
To be introduced as part of an update later this year, Google said the new AI tech allows the driver to concentrate on the road ahead, even when responding to friends, family or colleagues.
The tech works by being able to summarise and shorten long texts or group texts while you’re driving and then suggest relevant replies – all without having to look at the screen or touch your phone.
If one of your friends shares where they want to meet for lunch, for example, the AI can suggest setting the spot as your new destination. If you agree, it can then send your arrival time to your friend.
The Google-developed AI will also mean interactions with your infotainment system will be both quicker and more accurate.
As seen on similar systems coming from the Volkswagen Group and Mercedes-Benz, you should even be able to have a chat and ask general knowledge questions.
