Imagine a car that goes to work when you do. That’s what Google is thinking with its RideWith concept, taking the self-driving concept to new heights of efficient mobility.
Powered by its Waze community mapping service, Google is piloting RideWith in the Dan Gush region of Israel, allowing people to ride along in the autonomous cars.
Eventually, though, the technology will allow an autonomous Google car to pick up passengers and drop them off wherever they want, while still being available to take the primary 'driver' home from work.
Initially, Google will limit the system to sharing trips to and from work and people will only be able to take two trips a day, circumventing the regulatory issues surrounding Uber.
