Jeep has released a limited-edition Trailhawk version of its flagship Grand Cherokee, limited to just 160 units in Australia.
Available now, the turbo-diesel V6-powered Grand Cherokee Trailhawk adds a host of off-road oriented mechanical and cosmetic features for a manufacturer’s suggested retail price of $68,000 (plus on-road costs), which is $8000 more than the mid-range Limited variant but $2000 less than the top-shelf Grand Cherokee Overland.
In addition to its 3.0-litre Mercedes-Benz diesel engine, the Trailhawk comes standard with Jeep’s Quadra-Drive II four-wheel drive system, Quadra-Lift air suspension, an electronic limited-slip rear differential and 3.45:1 axle ratio from the Overland, plus 8.0x18-inch Mineral Grey alloy wheels with 265/60 R18 Goodyear Silent Armour all-terrain tyres, red recovery-rated tow hooks, steel Mopar rock-rails and skid plates for the fuel tank, transfer case, front suspension and underbody.
There is also a host of visual upgrades unique to the special-edition, including Bright White exterior paint, a large black and red bonnet decal, black headlight bezels, Mineral Grey grille and wing mirror accents, and Trailhawk badging.
All Trailhawks also come standard with black leather/suede seat trim with Trailhawk logos, red interior stitching accents, anodised black/silver interior highlights, satellite-navigation, reversing camera, Mopar slush mats, rear light bar, heated seats and steering wheel, power liftgate and a 3500kg towing capacity.
Jeep hopes the Trailhawk special will continue the sales success of its latest Grand Cherokee, which has already attracted 1883 new customers to February this year, making it the nation’s fifth best selling large SUV behind mainstream rivals like Ford’s Territory, Toyota’s Prado, Holden’s Captiva 7 and the Toyota Kluger.
