Grand Cherokee scores Summit Platinum makeover

Jeep releases an even better equipped Grand Cherokee, priced at a cool $78K

Jeep has announced a new range-topping limited-edition version of its popular Grand Cherokee dubbed the Summit Platinum.

Priced at $78,000 plus on-road costs, making it the most expensive Jeep apart from the ballistic Grand Cherokee SRT8, it adds a number of features and exterior design over the previous Summit special.

These comprise acoustic front, rear and second-row window glazing, body-colour lower body trim, mirror caps and door-handles, unique 20-inch alloy wheels and a host of other Platinum Chrome exterior enhancements including and accents for the grille, lower fascias, side sills, foglight bezels, rear step pad and front door badging.

Inside, the Summit Platinum offers illuminated ‘Summit’ door sills and a deluxe Berber carpet cargo compartment floor mat, in addition to the extensive equipment list of the Grand Cherokee Overland luxury flagship ($72,000 plus ORCs).

Fiat Chrysler Australia says Active Noise Cancelling results in a 10dB reduction in noise and combines with the acoustic glass to take to a new level the sound of the standard 825-Watt 19-speaker high-definition Harman Kardon sound system, including 12-channel amplifier and three subwoofers.

The Jeep Grand Cherokee Summit Platinum is powered by a unchanged 3.0-litre CRD V6 turbo-diesel V6 matched with an eight-speed automatic transmission.

“The Grand Cherokee Summit has already established itself as one of the most attractive premium SUV offerings in Australia. Summit Platinum now takes the Grand Cherokee to a further level of sophistication”, said FCA Australia’s Director of Product Strategy, Zac Loo.
