Great Dane has more power than Veyron

Insane Zenvo ST1 propelled by supercharged and turbocharged 7.0-litre V8 with 812kW!

Think Scandinavian supercar and chances are Koenigsegg is the first name that springs to mind.

Well, think again because a new player has just entered the arena in the form of Zenvo Automotive, a Danish ultra-niche manufacturer that has conjured up a super-coupe with more power than a Bugatti Veyron.

Say hello to the Zenvo ST1 (the "S" stands for Supercharger, "T" for Turbo and "1" for model number one), a Corvette Z06-derived projectile that was designed to be a track-worthy car that can also be used everyday.

Concealed within the carbonfibre bodywork is a 7.0-litre V8 that's fed by both a supercharger and a turbocharger, yielding a towering 812kW. The powerplant is a Bio Flex engine, meaning it can run on normal unleaded 98 (RON) or on Bio fuel (E85) or both combined.

The unenviable task of channelling the engine's massive grunt to the rear wheels is handled by a six-speed manual gearbox, although the company also offers a "paddle shift solution".

No claimed performance figures have been released at this stage, but we imagine a tilt at the production-car speed record -- currently held by the Ultimate Aero TT --might be on the cards at some stage.

The Danish-designed ST1 oozes menace, with styling that's seemingly inspired by Darth Vader's helmet and fighter jets.

The front is designed around a hexagonal grille (which is apparently a Zenvo trademark) flanked by large front air intakes used for brake cooling and housing the headlights.

The same theme is repeated in the rear, which is designed around the big diffuser necessary for high-speed stability and downforce.

Far from being a minimalist stripper, the ST1 comes with a raft of mod-cons, including climate-control air-con, a TFT screen that's hooked up to a reversing camera and a premium iPod/MP3-compatible sound system. The racing seats and steering wheel are electrically adjustable

Zenvo plans to produce and sell just 15 examples of the ST1 (no word as yet on pricing), and the fiercely patriotic company says it will use Danish suppliers wherever possible.
