Lamborghini has begun its build-up to the launch of an even faster version of its current Lamborghini Urus SUV that’s set to be unveiled in the coming days.
The video, posted on Lamborghini’s social media channels, features the caption “performance reaches new dimension” which suggest the famous Italian supercar brand could recycle its Performante moniker most recently used on the Lamborghini Huracan Performante built from 2017-19.
The video tease of a camouflaged prototype racing up the Colorado mountain isn’t that revealing, although for the upcoming faster version expect some minor visual upgrades that include a new front and rear bumper with more overt air-bending features, plus a bigger quad-exhaust.
Another theory is the Urus shown might be the expected plug-in hybrid version or facelifted Evo.
Under the bonnet, expect a healthy power upgrade on the already-mighty twin-turbocharged 4.0-litre V8 that currently produces 478kW and 850Nm of torque.
That means it will be even quicker than the 3.6 seconds it currently takes to sprint from 0-100km/h.
It’s thought the Pikes Peak teaser is evidence that the more powerful, faster Lamborghini Urus is out to rob the 2018 hill climb record set by the Bentley Bentayga Speed.
All will be revealed in the coming days, with the Urus Performante expected to be unwrapped at the Pebble Beach car show in California.
