The Haval H6S has been confirmed for release in the second quarter of this year in Australia, where it will be called the 2022 Haval H6 GT.
Riding on the same platform and powered by the same 150kW/320Nm turbocharged petrol engine as the regular Haval H6, the Haval H6 GT is bigger in virtually every dimension than its wagon-bodied sibling.
Although both H6 models share the same 2738mm wheelbase, the new coupe-esque offering is 74mm longer (4727mm), 54mm wider (1940mm) and 5mm taller (1729mm) than the standard Haval H6, and has plenty of extra cosmetic accessories to match its swoopy roofline.
Twin exhaust outlets, dual rear spoilers, a reshaped grille, new intake and more aggressive front bumper all lend themselves to the sportier aesthetic, which is backed up inside the cabin by the inclusion of sports front seats and other “unique cabin trim” bits.
The Audi Q5 Sportback vibe is ramped up further by the standard fitment of Brembo brakes and stickier Michelin Primacy tyres.
While pricing and finer specification details are yet to be announced, GWM Haval Australia has confirmed a lot of the H6 GT’s headline standard equipment will carry over from the existing H6 wagon, including a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, 12.3-inch infotainment touch-screen and seven-speed dual-clutch transmission.
“The H6 GT also features an extensive list of standard safety equipment including but not limited to autonomous emergency braking with pedestrian and cyclist detection, adaptive cruise control with stop and go, forward collision warning, lane keep assist and lane departure warning,” GWM Haval Australia said in a statement.
“New-generation products including the Haval Jolion, Haval H6 and GWM Ute helped GWM’s Australian sales to grow by a huge 251 per cent during 2021 with the new H6 delivering almost 3500 sales since launching in April.
“It’s expected that an increased range including the likes of the all-new Haval H6 GT will help to deliver further growth in 2022.”
