The ultimate Ford Bronco Raptor seen to date has emerged in the form of the 2023 Hennessey VelociRaptor 500 Bronco, which dials up the boost, pumps up the visuals and raises the suspension of the flagship version of the retro-inspired 4x4 off-roader.
Fitted with a new high-capacity intercooler, higher-flow induction system, bespoke ECU tune and a new stainless-steel exhaust system, the Bronco Raptor’s twin-turbocharged 3.0-litre V6 now develops 373kW of power and 746Nm of torque, marking improvements of 61kW/149Nm over the already gutsy donor car.
A dedicated blow-off valve has also been fitted to add to the theatrics when pushing hard either on- or off-road.
The extra firepower is complemented by a three-inch suspension lift and unique 18-inch Hennessey alloy wheels shod with 37-inch BFGoodrich T/A tyres.
If drivers somehow run out of ground clearance, the standard front and rear bumpers have been replaced with more aggressive steel units which not only improve the approach and departure angles, but should prove more scrape-friendly in the event of a touchdown.
The upgrades are rounded out by a batch of model-specific decals and Hennessey Heritage graphics on the exterior, while the cabin has been spruced up with embroidered head restraints, all-weather floor mats and a unique plaque.
“The new high-output Hennessey model increases capability and adrenaline in every scenario, adding serious speed on-road and ratcheting-up off-road ability,” Hennessey says.
“Following an intensive period of R&D, every Hennessey VelociRaptor 500 Bronco is road-tested at the company’s private test track.”
Just 200 examples of the Ford Bronco VelociRaptor 500 will be available through either Ford or Hennessey directly, with the upgrade package costing $US32,950 ($A50,425).
It’s covered by a three-year/36,000-mile (57,936km) warranty.
As carsales has reported, the Ford Bronco is a hot chance to be sold in Australia, so local interest in upgrades such as this one could feed into an Aussie program.
