He's the lead singer for the world famous band Aerosmith and a judge on one of the highest rating TV shows in the USA - American Idol - but did you know Steve Tyler is also a car nut, dropping a cool $1.1million on his latest power toy?
Tyler's brand new Lotus-based supercar will accelerate from 0-100km/h in about 2.6 seconds and how's this for madness -- it'll propel its driver from standstill to 321km/h in just 15.9 seconds. Talk about living on the edge.
Janie's got a gun, but Steve's got a bullet!
The builder of the car, US-based Hennessey Performance Engineering, says that there were no plans to build a convertible or 'spyder' version of the car, but when Tyler asked for it, they built it anyway, making it a very expensive and ultra-rare vehicle.
When it came time to build it, Hennessey had to add some weight to the car but didn't want the vehicle to lose its "world's fastest convertible" tag, so upped the power from around 880kW to 915kW.
That's almost a megawatt, or 1244 horsepower in the old money.
The Hennessey Venom GT convertible is based on a Lotus Elise and the company has built only six versions of this twin-turbocharged 7.0-litre V8 monster, one of them a convertible for Tyler.
But we wonder, seeing that Steve Tyler bought this car for $1.1 million, do you think he sold all his toys in the attic? Whatever the case, this dude certainly doesn't look like a lady when he drives this V8 monster...
