For any Australian motorsport fan, Mount Panorama is the pinnacle of racing, not just for drivers, but for spectators too. With its illustrious history which has seen the makings of many of Australia’s racing legends, the mountain is sacred ground so the opportunity to live at the track is surely a tempting proposition for any fan.
489 Conrod Straight, Mount Panorama has found its way onto realestate.com.au with the property on the market for the first time in 88 years. The Australian real estate listings website states that the property on Conrod Straight is across 17 acres of land which includes several structures with 6 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. Looking through the listing, it could only be described as what those in the real estate industry would call a fixer upper or renovator’s delight. With sweeping views of the iconic part of the track that has seen many thrills and spills over the decades, it is easy to look past the old kitchen and bathrooms and see the history of its surrounds.
The property also has a historic orchard, several paddocks, 180-degree views over Bathurst as well as a solar system and a well-sized dam. Raine & Horne Bathurst director Grant Maskhill-Dowton told realestate.com.au that the property was built by the family before the track opened in 1936.
"This is one of the most iconic homes on the track as it is located on the fastest straight in Australia and has never been offered before," he said.
"Homes are tightly held at Mt Panorama and don’t come up for sale all that often as it is one of the most attractive places to live in Bathurst."
According to the website, the property which is up for auction on the 30th of July is expected to go for around $2 million.
Aside from the iconic Bathurst 1000 Supercars weekend in October each year, the track also hosts several race meets throughout the year including the Bathurst 6 hour, 12 hour, TCR and Challenge Bathurst event.
