Some of Australia’s most loved muscle cars, including two Ford Falcon GTHOs, will go under the hammer at a Victorian auction later this week. And big results are being tipped.
Lloyds Auctions has confirmed the inaugural ‘Shepp Classic’ – a self-described collection of “classic cars, muscle and barn finds” – will take place at the at the Shepparton Motor Museum on April 29 from midday.
With historic car prices at record levels, culminating in the recent sale of a Holden Monaro HT for $312,000 in April, auction stakeholders are tipping big demand at this weekend’s event.
Headlining the auction is a 1971 Ford Falcon XY GTHO Phase III in ‘Monza Green’. Described as “one of the most original” ‘Hoeys’ in the country, the collectible features a 351 V8 and four-speed manual gearbox. Inside, the interior is finished in light saddle trim.
Other local highlights include a fully-restored 1969 Ford Falcon XW GTHO Phase I finished in Grecian Gold with a black interior, a Holden Monaro HG GTS Monaro finished in vivid Indy Orange hue and a HK Monaro that comes with its first set of spark plugs on a wooden plinth.
For followers of US historics, a 1968 Ford Shelby Mustang GT500 and a 1966 Chevrolet El Camino are also for grabs. Those with a penchant for German exports should check out the 1956 Mercedes-Benz 190SL before it goes under the hammer.
The auction will commence at noon this Saturday. More information is available from the Lloyds Auctions page.
