In a press release issued by Holden today, Gerry Dorizas was announced as the new MD for the company, which faces a three-year period of change as it winds down manufacturing operations at the Elizabeth plant in South Australia and accepts the mantle of full-line importer. Dorizas steps into the role with effect from March 1. According to the press release, Dorizas was born in Greece and has over two decades of experience in the motor industry with companies as diverse as Mercedes, Fiat, Toyota, Hyundai and Volkswagen. During that time he has worked throughout Europe and Asia, serving in his previous role as President and CEO of Volkswagen Group Sales India.
"Gerry has the right industry-leading experience and credentials to lead GM Holden through a significant program of change, as it transitions to a National Sales Company," said Stefan Jacoby, Executive Vice President and President at GMIO.
"GM International Operations is undergoing a transformation that is committed to driving our markets toward success. As part of this transformation, the GMIO team is working to build a global organisation with strong local passion, ownership and entrepreneurship."
