Walkinshaw Performance will soon deliver a cut-price HSV Colorado SportsCat – with the power and torque boost the discontinued performance ute so dearly deserved.
The Holden Colorado may have been axed by General Motors along with the Holden brand earlier this year, but so far this year it remains Australia's fourth most popular 4x4 ute.
Now, Aussie aftermarket tuner Walkinshaw Performance has revealed a W550 diesel engine upgrade and body kit for the Colorado – and the latter is identical to that of the $63,000-plus HSV SportsCat that previously topped the range.
Revealing the new enhancement pack via Instagram, Walkinshaw Performance hasn’t confirmed all the nuts and bolts but, given the name of the upgrade, it’s safe to ssume the Colorado’s 2.8-litre turbo-diesel will get a peak torque boost from 500Nm to 550Nm.
Power output will almost certainly also be increased beyond the standard 2776cc engine’s 147kW.
The new Colorado W550 engine upgrade, available on most Colorado utes built between 2018 and 2020, is tipped to include new components such as a high-flow air-filter, plus revised fueling via the engine control unit (ECU).
Walkinshaw Performance's social media post says: “Does your Colorado look this good? Upgrade performance and looks to match with the W550 Diesel Performance Upgrade & Styling Pack.”
The styling pack looks tough, with a power bulge on the bonnet, a restyled front bumper with recovery hooks, wheel-arch extensions, 18-inch alloy wheels and a W550 sticker set.
Indeed, Walkinshaw’s styling kit appears to be identical to that seen on the HSV Colorado SportsCat, which makes sense given WP and HSV are both owned by the Walkinshaw Group.
Depending on how much Walkinshaw charges for the pack (and whether it offers the SportsCat's upgraded SupaShock suspension and AP Racing front brakes), the W550 pack could be a much cheaper way to get the tough-truck look of the HSV SportsCat.
