We know you're thinking "another day, another Holden special-edition", but the new Holden Colorado LS-X ute is a full-time addition to Holden's popular one-tonner range.
Claimed to deliver improved value to customers, the Colorado LS-X ute is a five-seat crew-cab 4x4 ute that comes with alloy wheels, front fog lights, an alloy sports bar, smoked bonnet protector and carpet flooring on top of the automatic transmission fitted as standard.
Like all Colorado utes, the LS-X is powered by a four-cylinder turbo-diesel engine worth 147kW and 440Nm. It has a claimed 3.5-tonne towing capacity and is available with a touch-screen (MyLink) infotainment system.
The LS-X name was first introduced in 2015 but at a much higher price. As such, Holden's Executive Director of Sales, Peter Keley, reckons the Colorado LS-X will be an "attractive" vehicle for ute buyers.
Holden is hoping for a sales hike with the introduction of the Colorado LS-X, which is on sale this month (May 2016).
However, it's not clear if the vehicle's drive-away pricing $37,990 will be maintained long-term. As it stands, the LS-X dual-cab 4x4 auto represents a substantial saving over the previous Colorado 4x4 dual-cab range opener, the LS at $45,990 plus on-road costs.
"It ensures Holden continues to provide exceptional value for money," stated Keley, who noted that plenty of end-of-financial-year offers make it "an excellent time for customers to visit their local Holden dealer".
Sales of the Holden Colorado 4x4 ute have risen slightly in the first three months of 2016 to 3746, making it the fourth most popular ute in the segment after the Toyota HiLux (6911), Ford Ranger (6638) and Mitsubishi Triton (5191).
