Holden recalls VF Commodore and WN Caprice

Seat-belt buckle assembly may wear its way through wiring harness for pre-tensioner
Holden has advised the ACCC that its VF Commodore and WN Caprice models built since March of last year may pose a risk to the driver in the event of an accident.
Owners are requested to return vehicles to the nearest servicing dealer to re-fasten the seat-belt pre-tensioner wiring harness to the base of the seat frame. Left loose, the harness can make contact with a bolt holding the seat-belt buckle in place. Over a prolonged period, the constant contact can result in the bolt grinding its way through the harness, which is consequently rendered unserviceable.
Illumination of the airbag fault light in the dash may be a sign that the wiring harness has failed. Designed to haul in the seat-belt slack during a crash, the pre-tensioner may not operate as a consequence of the fault, allowing increased forward movement of the seat occupant and thus increasing the risk of injury in the event of a crash.
Holden advises that other safety features are unaffected – including all airbags. Vehicles subject to the recall notice were built between March 8, 2013 and May 22, 2014. The VIN range runs from 6G1FL5EP6EL900097 to 6G1NN5E48EL987612.
