Holden reveals cut-price WN Caprice

First images and details of Holden's facelifted Caprice, priced $10,000 lower

Holden has revealed the flagship of its upgraded VF Commodore range, the 2014 WN Caprice.

Due on sale alongside the rest of the facelifted large-car line-up on June 1, the latest Caprice comes with price cuts of up to $10,000 for the top-shelf Caprice V-Series V8, which costs less than $60,000 for the first time at $59,990 plus on-road costs.

There’s a similar price reduction at base level too, with the entry-level Caprice LPG V6 priced at $54,990 plus ORCs -- $9500 less than the model it replaces ($64,490) and $7000 less than the MY12 Caprice V6 petrol ($61,990), which has been discontinued.

Both powertrains continue to come with a six-speed automatic transmission as standard and, as with the rest of the MY14 Commodore range, the Caprice line-up is available with prestige paint for an extra $550, including the ‘Prussian Steel’ hue pictured.

Of course, Holden’s revitalised long-wheelbase sedan range comes with all of the upgrades seen across the VF Commodore sedan line-up, including new front and rear styling and a redesigned interior.

Now led by the fleet-friendly Caprice LPG, Australia’s only homegrown limousine line-up also comes with the full gamut of new Commodore technologies, with new premium leather-clad front seats, 18-inch alloy wheels and chrome exterior details standard at base level.

All MY14 Caprice models will also come standard with a proximity key and push-button starting, satellite-navigation with full-colour mapping and live traffic updates, an eight-inch high-resolution colour touch-screen, MyLink infotainment with Siri Eyes Free voice recognition, full iPod integration and in-built Pandora and Stitcher SmartRadio apps.

Also standard across the new Caprice range is the Auto Park Assist parallel and right-angle self-parking system, Reverse Traffic Alert, Blind Spot Alert, a reversing camera, front and rear parking sensors, an electric parking brake with auto release, Hill Hold Control, Hill Start Assist, Trailer Sway Control and remote vehicle starting.

The top-shelf Caprice V adds as standard a carryover 6.0-litre Gen IV petrol V8 and an all-new rear-seat DVD entertainment system with remote control, AUX input and dual-channel wireless headphones.

In addition, Caprice V buyers also score advanced technologies like Forward Collision Alert, Lane Departure Warning, Colour Head-Up Display, Deluxe leather-lined front and rear bucket seats, (four) new 19-inch alloy wheels, a leather-wrapped sports steering wheel, nine-speaker premium Bose sound system and electric glass sunroof.
