Holden Sportwagon earns top marks

Commodore becomes first local wagon to claim top ANCAP rating

After Ford's victory with its five-star ANCAP (Australasian New Car Assessment Program) rated sedan range Holden has scored its own victory with the Sportwagon becoming the first Australian-made wagon to claim the top prize.

The Australasian New Car Assessment Program is considered the top safety recommendation in the local car industry and the five-star rating is the top award.

The Ford Falcon FG petrol sedan range become the first locally made range to earn the top honour last year.

"As a family car there should be no compromise in safety and the ANCAP endorsement is a very clear indication that with Sportwagon there is no such thing," says Mark Reuss, Holden managing director.

In another victory over Ford, Holden has also earned the five-star rating for its LPG Omega sedan and the Special Edition Commodore it unveiled at the Melbourne International Motor Show.

Ford was unable to secure a five-star rating for its E-Gas Falcons or BF Falcon wagon range.
