Holden tweaks Captiva 5 range

New LTZ variant features more kit, auto transmission gets reworked and diesel variant scores new diff
Holden's Captiva 5 range is expanded from three to five models, following the release of a new 'LTZ' level of trim $3000 above the price point of the base model.
The Captiva 5 LTZ is the most significant change to the five-seat large SUV, but Holden has also specified an improved automatic transmission (which is standard in the LTZ variants and also available in the Captiva 7) and a new differential ratio that the company claims will enhance "drive quality" of the diesel-powered models.
Priced as they were prior to the upgrade, the three base-grade variants of the Captiva 5 are now badged 'LT', to distinguish them from the new upmarket LTZ variants. Added extras for the Captiva 5 LTZ include: leather-appointed interior trim, heated front seats, eight-way electrically-adjustable driver's seat, 19-inch alloy wheels and rain-sensing wipers.
Unlike the LT grade, there is no manual variant trimmed to LTZ level; just the 2.4-litre petrol engine (in front-wheel drive form) and the all-wheel drive with the 2.2-litre turbo-diesel. Both engines drive through the six-speed automatic transmission by default. Along with the other changes, the Captiva (both five and seven-seat ranges) can be ordered in two new colours, Snowflake Pearl and Sandy Beach.
“SUV buyer expectations are changing,” said Philip Brook, Executive Director of Sales and Marketing at Holden. “More and more customers are looking for a richer equipment list and expect their SUV to have all the convenience features normally reserved for more premium models,” he said.
“We’ve added a whole new LTZ trim level complete with rain-sensing wipers, leather interior trim, 19-inch alloy wheels and heated front seats to Captiva 5, which our customers already tell us is stunning value.
“Along with drive quality improvements from our new generation auto transmission and diesel final drive ratio, the upgrades give us a great opportunity to increase Holden’s presence in the booming SUV market, particularly at the smaller end of the market.”
