Holden Volt hits NSW

Inaugural electrified Holden arrives in NSW dealerships as first plug-in Volt hybrids arrive

GM Holden has delivered the first examples of its inaugural electrified model, with NSW dealers among the first to receive demonstrator versions of the ground-breaking new Volt plug-in hybrid last week.

Nine specialist NSW Holden dealers will begin delivering cars to their first customers in the coming days after adding a Volt to their demonstration fleets.

The news follows the hand-over of Australia’s first customer Volt to the US Ambassador to Australia, Jeffrey Bleich, at the Sydney motor show last month.

The nine specialist Volt dealers in NSW are Muirs Holden in Ashfield, Paul Wakeling Holden in Campbelltown, Hunter Holden in Ryde, Northside Holden in Chatswood, Suttons City Holden in Roseberry, Sutherland Holden in Sutherland, Castle Hill Holden in Castle Hill, Kelly Holden in Cardiff and Geoff Kin Holden in Coffs Harbour.

Every Volt dealer is required to invest in specialised Volt training and equipment, including a dedicated Volt charging station in both the sales and service areas, and has committed to achieving environmental accreditation. A total of 49 Volt dealers are now in place nationwide.

Holden says interest in the “game-changing” Volt EV, which has a claimed electric-only range of 87km and a total range of more than 600km in combination with its petrol generator, has been strong since dealers were announced in June, followed by TV advertising.

“Volt really seems to have captured people’s imagination thanks to its range extension technology,” said GM Holden Executive Director of Sales and Marketing, Philip Brook.

“As the first car of its kind to go on sale in Australia, drivers want to understand how the technology works and what it feels like to drive and live with an electric car.

“Now that the dealers have a permanent demo on hand, customers will be able to experience the unique technology of Volt for themselves.”

Holden says the Volt costs as little as $2.50 to fully charge in six hours via a regular (10A) household power outlet.
