Honda has announced it has created a special edition of its CR-Z coupe to commemorate the end of its production.
Already axed last year in Australia, the CR-Z in new 'Final Label' has been created with Japanese buyers in mind and comes in a limited range of colours that includes the blue metallic (pictured), a pearlescent white or yellow plus a two-tone yellow/black or blue/black finish.
All cars ride on two-tone gloss black and silver 17-inch alloys, while inside there's 'Final Label' embroidered on the sport seats. A special plaque is also mounted behind the gear-lever to remind you you have one of the last batch of CR-Zs.
It's not been revealed how many Final Label coupes Honda plans to make, but none will head Down Under after the innovative CR-Z was removed from Australian showrooms back in January 2017.
High pricing that began at $38,490, was blamed for the decision to kill it off here, but it didn't help that the small coupe's 1.5-litre four-cylinder petrol, combined with a small electric motor, could only muster 100kW/190Nm. Not impressive compared to the 147kW/205Nm generated by the cheaper Toyota 86 and Subaru BRZ twins.
The CR-Z is expected to end production later this year. The last Final Label models will cost around $35,000 in Japan.
There's still no word on whether Honda will replace the small coupe, but if it does it's likely to remain front-wheel drive and be based on the latest version of the bigger Civic.
