Honda Europe is celebrating 30 years of the Honda CR-V with the unveiling of a new Dream Pod in-car camping concept, which could soon be offered as an official dealer accessory.
Inspired by Japanese capsule hotels, the new camping aid has been created to be packaged with the latest-generation Honda CR-V’s 617-litre boot. The centrepiece of new Dream Pod is a double mattress that unfolds quickly when you drop the second row of seats, creating a sleeping space for two.
Based on the EGOE Nestboard 650, a Czech aftermarket camping solution available for a wide range of vehicles, below the mattress is a neat drawer that slides open to reveal a stove and collapsible sink, along with some space for utensils, cutlery and plates.
Other innovations include additional LED reading lights, pull-out side tables and extra USB charging sockets.
There’s also useful black-out covers for the rear windows, plus a retractable blind behind the front seats for privacy.
In Europe the EGOE Nestboard 650 is available for just under €4000 ($A7400). Honda is yet to announce how much the Honda-branded version would command if it reaches production.
It’s expected Honda will continue to celebrate three decades and six generations of the CR-V throughout 2025. Last year saw the model surpass one million deliveries in Europe.
