Honda NSX in Oz for AGP

Show car making its Aussie debut in March is original concept, not the production model previewed in Detroit
Honda will unveil its NSX show car in Melbourne for the 2015 AGP in March.
The premiere of the hybrid twin-turbo V6 sports car marks Honda's re-entry to the global sports car market and is in lock-step with Honda's return to the field of Formula 1.
Unfortunately, Honda Australia could not lay hands on the production-ready NSX previewed at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit this month. Instead, the car we'll see in Australia is the older design study that first saw the light of day in Detroit three years ago. Headlights and wheels are the principal points of difference the cognoscenti may observe, but otherwise the production car and the show car are visually close.
"This is a new era for Honda in more ways than one," Honda Australia Director Stephen Collins said today.
"The NSX is the rebirth of an icon and represents power, sportiness and efficiency. The NSX Concept will be the star attraction of Honda's on-circuit display at Albert Park. There will be many fans of the original supercar who we know will enjoy this exclusive preview."
Honda Australia has been pushing for the NSX to be sold here – and even though it will be a niche model at best, it will help boost the stocks of the brand in the local market. Collins believes Honda's involvement in F1 will have a similar 'halo' effect also.
"2015 is a big year for the Honda brand, both here and internationally. This year heralds our return to Formula 1 in partnership with McLaren and the first race of the season is the perfect opportunity to showcase Honda's exciting new products," Collins was as quoted saying in a Honda press release.
The company anticipates accepting customer orders for the NSX from the middle of this year, with deliveries in Australia to commence from 2016.
