Honda to reveal new NSX
Next-generation Honda NSX supercar to hit the track for the first time in public next weekHonda has revealed the first image of its new-generation NSX supercar, before it makes its dynamic racetrack debut next week in the US.
Emerging faithful to the updated NSX concept that previewed it at this year’s Detroit motor show, the prototype will take to the Mid-Ohio circuit on August 4, ahead of next weekend’s Honda Indy 200 IndyCar Series.
Development of Honda’s born-again NSX performance flagship -- which will be launched globally, including Australia, in 2015 is continuing apace in North America, where it will be built.
Honda announced in May that it will produce the MkII NSX at its Performance Manufacturing Centre in Marysville, near Honda R&D Americas’ engineering base in Raymond, Ohio.
Apart from its custom graphics, Honda says the NSX prototype “maintains the styling and proportions” of the original NSX Concept that debuted at the 2012 Detroit show, although it appears to wear new headlights, larger mirrors and remodeled air intakes.
Honda has provided no further information, but confirms the prototype is powered by the production NSX’s mid-mounted V6 and new three-motor Sport Hybrid SH-AWD (Super Handling All Wheel Drive) system, comprising an electric motor for each front wheel and another integrated into the dual-clutch transmission.
