Honda ups Accord, outs ASIMO

Honda releases limited-edition Accord and shows-off clever ASIMO

Honda is offering a limited edition version of its four-cylinder Accord VTi, which will retail from $32,790.

Value-adding features include fog lights, parking sensors, leather seats, power driver's seat, a leather steering wheel and metallic paint as standard, for a premium of $2300.

Only 1200 of the Special Edition Accords will be available from October 1st, until stocks run out.

In other Honda news, showgoers can shake the humanoid robotic hand of  'ASIMO' (Advanced Step in Innovative Mobility) at this week's Perth Royal Show. Honda designers began the ASIMO project in 1986, intending to create a robot that can assist humans by working within the home or assisting a person confined to a bed or wheelchair. According to Honda ASIMO can walk independently like a human, climb stairs, balance on one leg, gesture with its arms, navigate around objects and kick a soccer ball.

Honda's ASIMO will perform daily in the Japan pavilion at the Perth Royal Show (now until September 7) at 9.30am, 11am, 3pm, 5pm and 7pm.
