The sale, which runs to the end of the year, is an opportunity to score one of the company's volume-selling models at a significantly better price, with the only proviso being that the cars sold are 2012 models, rather than fresh off the boat for the 2013 model year.
“Now is a great time to visit your local Honda dealership and snap up one of these fantastic deals,” said Stephen Collins, Honda Australia’s Director and General Manager Sales and Marketing, in a statement issued yesterday.
Through its dealer network, the company is offering deals on the manual Honda Jazz (2012 model in solid paint) for $15,990, including drive-away costs. That's just a thousand more than the normal MLP, which doesn't include the on-roads. The Civic VTi sedan (pictured) is priced at $21,490 drive-away for 2012 models with manual transmission and solid paint. Once again, that's just $1000 more than the usual MLP (Manufacturer's List Price).
Also priced at $21,490, drive-away, is the 2012 model Civic Hatch.
“The Civic Hatch sits in a highly competitive segment,” said Mr Collins. “As such, we have aggressively repositioned its pricing and are confident customers will agree that it is an outstanding package representing outstanding value.”
Accord Euro is being sold at $29,990, drive-away, for 2012 models fitted with manual transmission and finished in solid paint colours. That's an on-road price $350 lower than the car's MLP.
Honda's contender in the VFACTS large car segment, the Accord, is being promoted in Limited Edition guise at the price of $34,190, drive-away. Although the price is $6000 steeper than the standard car's MLP, the Limited Edition comes with added features thrown in, comprising: sunroof, leather interior (heated front seats), eight-way power-adjustable driver seat including power lumbar support, leather steering wheel, fog lights, rain-sensing wipers, reverse parking sensors, 17 inch alloy wheels and dusk-sensing headlights.
The annual clearance sale is an important element in the task Honda has set for itself, staging a strong comeback in 2012. VFACTS figures show the importer's sales for the year to date have risen over 2300, to 28,188.
With just two months of the year remaining, Honda doesn't look likely to achieve the 40,000-unit goal outlined by Stephen Collins during the Civic sedan launch earlier this year. But with the new CR-V only just landed in Australia – and yet to make an impact in the sales charts, Honda should be in a position to add 5000 units to last year's tally of 30,107, before the end of 2012.
