New compact sedan joins Honda rangeHonda has officially launched its new offering in the light sedan market, the City. The new model is based on the same platform as the Jazz hatch and has been designed to sit underneath the Civic range.
The company has launched with two specification levels, VTi and VTi-L, but both are powered by the same 1.5-litre SOHC 'i-VTEC' four-cylinder engine that produces 88kW of power and 145Nm of torque. Both models come with ABS brakes, electronic force distribution and brake assist; and dual front, side and curtain airbags.
Pictured here in blue, the VTi manual starts at $20,490 with the automatic variant fetching $22,790. Standard comfort and convenience features for the entry-level City include air conditioning, cruise control, remote central locking, electric mirrors/windows, a 60/40 splitfold rear seat and an iPod/MP3-compatible CD audio system.
Boasting 16-inch alloy wheels in lieu of the base model's 15-inch steel wheels, plus telescopic adjustment for the leather-bound steering wheel, fog lights, a rear 'bee-sting' radio aerial and other minor refinements, the VTi-L is priced from $22,990 for the manual and $25,290 for the automatic (the red car pictured).
