Hot 2025 Abarth 600e previewed

Fiat’s performance brand confirms Abarth 600e will lead the pack for power and nab new chassis tech

The 2025 Abarth 600e has been officially teased for the first time, with the Italian performance brand announcing the battery-electric small SUV will be its most powerful model yet when it goes on sale in Europe early next year.

Developed in partnership with its parent’s Stellantis Motorsport, the headline news is the Abarth 600e will be driven by a front-mounted electric motor that will pump out 177kW – 63kW more than the Abarth 500e city hatch and 37kW more than the flagship combustion-powered Abarth 695 Biposto.

Abarth hasn’t confirmed how quick its latest EV will be, but even with its bigger and heavier SUV body the 600e should be considerably quicker than the Abarth 500e that can sprint from 0-100km/h in 6.8 seconds.

Despite sharing its looks, the Abarth 600e (and the Fiat 600e it’s based on) is not related to the 500e, which rides on a bespoke architecture. The SUV, on the other hand, is underpinned by the Stellantis Group’s eCMP platform.

Updated for the Abarth application, the Perfo-eCMP is said to get unique tech to enhance its sportiness.

Changes include sports suspension, a new limited-slip differential, bigger brakes and tailormade tyres that are said to have been inspired by Formula E.

The result is a sporty SUV that will shrug off its expected 1520kg kerb weight and handle more like a hot hatch.

Set to draw energy from a 51kWh battery pack, the Abarth 600e should have a range of around 400km.

Shown in pictures of a camouflaged prototype testing, the Abarth 600e will sit much lower to the ground compared to the Fiat version and come with a much wider front and rear track that necessitate wheel-arch extensions.

Other changes include a revised front bumper, rear tailgate spoiler and large diffuser.

Larger wheels that are shod with Michelin Pilot Sport tyres (with a unique compound) complete the changes, with the new rubber said to boost grip without compromising range.

Inside, there’s said to be “high-comfort” front seats that are claimed to provide plenty of lateral support, while four different types of foam filling in the seats help provide for a comfortable ride.
