HOT DEALS: Savings old and new

For the next couple of weeks, new car buyers can still take advantage of the 2006 model clearances most of the major manufacturers are offering

There's also some introductory offers about with the launch of new models. Some have been discounted, some come with extras. So if you're in the market for a new car, we suggest you check these out.

Ford plays it safe
Ford has announced a 'benchmark' option pack for its new Ranger light commercial range, offering a Safety Pack priced from $1200 which includes four-wheel ABS with EBD (Electronic Brakeforce Distribution), side airbags, sports weave seat trim and power windows. All Ford Ranger models come with standard twin airbags. The pack can also be specified on Ranger's basic high-ride 4X2 workhorse models. Ford's latest offer will come as a welcome move for working drivers, with vehicle safety features increasingly becoming a workplace safety issue. It's also a bonus for Rangers that double as family vehicles. The range starts at $31,490.

1000 bucks from Hyundai
The Korean manufacturer is offering a $1000 saving on a number of its models -- both old and new. The 1.4-litre Getz is reduced to $12,990 and the new Elantra SX to $18,990. The 2006 Tucson is also reduced by $1000 to $25,990, and the 2006 Accent to $14,990. These deals are worth a look.

Mitsubishi's "supremely confident"
Mitsubishi believe its new warranty offer is an indication of confidence in the company's newly enhanced production facilities. There's a five-year or 130,000km factory warranty applying to all new passenger and light commercial vehicles, and a 10 year or 160,000km powertrain warranty which applies to the following components: engine, turbo charger, water pump, engine transmission mounts, transmission/transaxle, 4WD transfer case, propeller shaft, drive shafts and axles, and differential. You've got to hand it to them on this one -- it's one of the best warranty offers you'll ever see.

Nissan's Big One
Further to the hot deals report last week, we thought this was a fairly hot one for business owners looking for a transport vehicle/work truck: the Navara DX at $26,500 for ABN holders, with a free bullbar. There's also the V6 Maxima at $39,990 with leather and 17-inch alloys, and the seven-seat Pathfinder at $44,990.

Bavarian Motor Works 3 times
BMW is offering a three-year/60,000 km service warranty and two years insurance on most 3 Series Sedan and Touring models. If you purchase under BMW's Full Circle Finance with Guaranteed Future Value scheme you’ll know exactly what your 3 Series will be worth at the end of the day. That's an interesting proposal for those of you looking to get around in one of Beemer's beauties.
