Hot Skoda Enyaq Coupe iV fastback makes debut

More stylish take on all-electric Skoda SUV introduced to rival Audi Q4 e-tron; includes powerful RS flagship and decent range of up to 546km

Skoda has introduced a new fastback version of its Enyaq electric SUV that is available in either rear-drive or all-wheel drive form and with the choice of three power outputs including a sporty RS version.

On sale in Europe in the coming months, the 2022 Skoda Enyaq Coupe iV shares its MEB chassis architecture with the regular Enyaq SUV but gets a more streamlined body that improves its aero and slashes its drag coefficient to just 0.234Cd.

This helps some models, like the rear-drive Enyaq Coupe iV 80 with its 77kWh battery, cover up to a WLTP-certified range of 545km – an improvement of 14km over the standard Enyaq.

The least powerful Enyaq iV 80 comes with a single rear-mounted 150kW electric motor.

If you need more power and all-wheel drive, or fancy a sportier version, the Enyaq Coupe 80x comes with a second front-mounted motor that boosts total output to 195kW.

The highest-output RS variant, meanwhile, produces a maximum of 220kW and 460Nm, enabling it to sprint to 100km/h in a brisk 6.5 seconds, although top speed remains capped at 179km/h.

Both the RS and the Enyaq Coupe iV Sportline trims benefit from a bespoke suspension tune that sees them sit 15mm lower up front and 10mm lower at the rear.

Whichever you order, both ride on 20-inch rims with a 21-inch wheel as an option.

The Sportline and RS twins also feature gloss-black trim around the grille and rear diffuser, while the flagship RS gets a full-width reflector on the lower half of the rear bumper.

All Enyaq Coupe iVs come with a full-length panoramic roof that is claimed to be thinner than the standard car's roof, delivering more headroom for passengers. Despite its more rakish lines, luggage space remains a generous 570-litres – just 15 litres less than the regular SUV.

Inside, the RS is the only model to get black leather-trimmed sport seats and a faux-leather wrapped dash. There's also plenty of sporty-looking carbon-fibre throughout.

All Enyaq Coupe iVs get a 5.3-inch digital instrument cluster and a 13-inch infotainment screen.

Skoda is yet to reveal the price premium it will charge for the slipperier Enyaq derivative, and while Skoda Australia previously said the regular Skoda Enyaq could be released here as soon as this year, there's no word yet about whether the Coupe version is destined for our shores.
