Holden aficionados and V8 Supercars fans take note -- Sunday the 20th of September will need to be cleared of all prior engagements.
For the first time Holden Special Vehicles and Holden Racing Team operations in Clayton will be opening their doors to the public for the Toll HRT family day.
This sort of access-all-areas event seldom occurs, so if you want to see the inner workings of the race team that saw Garth Tander and Will Davison win the 500km V8 Supercar event at Phillip Island recently, not to mention HSV's inner sanctum, you'll definitely want to check it out.
The V8 Commodore racecar that Garth Tander and Will Davison drove to victory will be on display, as will the drivers, who will be there to sign autographs and maybe even chew the fat with fans.
Beginning at 10:00am and running until about 3:00pm, plans are underway to make it an annual event. The Toll HRT family day will also provide the public with access to HRT's Walkinshaw Racing stablemate outfits Team Autobarn and Bundaberg Red Racing.
Some of the vehicles on display will include showstoppers such as Efijy and Coupe 60 concept cars, and even Holden's first factory race car -- the HDT GTS 350 Monaro.
Other attractions will include a shown 'n' shine event, workshop and HSV tours, plus autograph and interview sessions with Tander, Davison and fellow V8 Supercar drivers Paul Dumbrell and David Reynolds, plus activities and competitions for kids.
Garther Tander reckons the day will be "like Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory, except you won't need a gold ticket to come inside".
Entry is via gold coin donations which will go towards helping the Prostate Cancer Foundation, and the event will take place at 125 Rayhur Street in Clayton, Victoria.
