HSV releases 20-inch forged wheels
Holden Special Vehicles launches new performance wheel designed to reduce weight and improve aesthetic appealBuyers of the new HSV E3 series of sports cars can now option a 20-inch forged alloy wheel, at a price of $2500 for all models except the GTS, where it will be a no-cost option.
The performance car tuner has also made available two new colour choices, Perfect Blue and Chlorophyll, the latter available from November 2011.
The new alloy rims measure 8.5-inches at the front and 9.5-inches at the rear and have a "dark stainless" finish according to HSV's press statement.
The wheels also have an 'SV" logo engraved into one of the spokes. They were first seen on the HSV SV Black Edition but for that application they had a gloss black finish.
As well as adding a new visual aspect to the cars, the new forged wheels also reduce unsprung weight, to the tune of "approximately 20 kilograms" according to HSV. In theory this should improve handling and braking.
HSV's 20-inch forged wheels are also compatible with the GTS model's six-piston caliper brake upgrade.
The General Manager of Sales at HSV, Darren Bowler, said that the wheels were an option for all models after positive customer feedback: “We have had great feedback on the forged wheel in black as featured on the SV Black Edition models.
"Our customers are going to love the look of this option wheel with its dark stainless finish and they also get the benefits of approximately 20 kilograms of weight saving across the vehicle due to its forged nature," added Bowler.
