HSV has released details of a new limited-edition ute based on Holden’s Colorado: the HSV SportsCat RS.
Available in showrooms in the coming weeks priced from $63,990 (plus on-road costs), the newcomer is strictly limited to 100 variants – six of those bound for New Zealand. Colour choice is limited to Summit White.
That price sees the ‘RS’ sit between the regular SportsCat and SportsCat+ variants which are priced from $60,790 and $66,790 respectively. It follows the similarly-themed SportsCat R that lobbed in showrooms barely 12 months ago.
Cosmetic enhancements begin with a new gloss black grille, lower fascia and gloss black ‘splash tray’. Furthermore, red and black decals now adorn the frame edge of the bonnet, door sills and hard tonneau cover, matched by a new HSV logo on the tub.
The SportsCat RS features a prominent “bonnet bulge” and is flanked by rugged fender flares and 18-inch alloy wheels wrapped in Cooper all-terrain tyres.
It’s not all badges and stickers, though. The RS features aforementioned hard cover, load-rail provision and quick-release mechanism, sports bar, leather-wrapped sports bucket seats and suede instrument panel. Red stitching is dotted throughout the cabin to provide a nice contrast.
Under the bonnet resides an unchanged 2.8-litre turbo-diesel four-cylinder mated solely to a six-speed automatic transmission.
HSV’s Sports Suspension is paired with the tuner’s unique ESV and MTV settings to endow the dual cab with a greater performance bias. A widened track, increased front ride height further complements the ute’s sporty vibe.
An AP Racing brake package - featuring (front) four-piston forged brake callipers and 362mm x 32mm diameter rotors – is offered as a factory option.
The assembly of the HSV SportsCat RS is set to take place in HSV’s production facility in Victoria from this month.
