The Genesis is Hyundai's new luxury large car. It's bigger than the Grandeur and offers both V6 and V8 power in a rear-wheel drive package.
We've already revealed the car (more here), but now we can tell you that the car -- which Hyundai anticipates will take the brand further upmarket -- will go on sale in the US for $33,000.
That price, as reported by American industry publication, Automotive News, applies to the entry-level 3.8-litre V6. A further $5000 outlay ($38,000 in total) is required from buyers in the market for the Genesis powered by the 4.6-litre DOHC V8.
With no plans to build the car in RHD -- and no expression of interest on the part of Hyundai Australia -- the Genesis is unlikely to reach us, but the Genesis Coupe, which is based on the same platform, remains a prospect for the local market.
Plainly, for that to happen, the platform will need to be adapted for RHD -- and that paves the way for the sedan to be sold here too, if the company chooses.
