Hyundai i30 N gets 'N Option'

Fully sick rear wings, sports seats and exhaust systems revealed for i30 N via N Option range

If you thought the giant-slaying Hyundai i30 N hot hatch lacked visual substance, get a load of the car-maker's new N Option accessories. This new range of accessories delivers the kind of intense eye candy usually only seen in video games.

Hyundai's new N Option accessory pack was revealed at the 2018 Paris motor show exclusively for the i30 N – and eventually the i30 N Fastback – and with any luck the fancy seats, beefcake exhausts, vented carbon bonnet and suede-covered steering wheel will be offered in Australia.

N finally gets a bit of visual attitude

"We know that customers are keen on enhancing the N car with accessories and we're keen to deliver as much as we possibly can," said Bill Thomas, Hyundai Australia's GM of external affairs.

"Nothing is confirmed at this stage, but we'd love to see the accessories available here," he said.

The Hyundai i30 N has been a success with critics and in showrooms alike, already winning a couple of our comparisons and notching almost 3000 sales in the first half of 2018 in Europe.

As a direct rival to the popular Volkswagen Golf GTI, the fast Korean hatch is expected to tally up around 800 sales in Australia by the end of 2018. There's a six-month wait list for the car in Oz, despite being manual-only, and the addition of an automatic gearbox and a Fastback cousin will boost its popularity further.

In total, there's are 25 various "high-quality exterior and interior individualisation options" according to an official press statement.

Some of the N Option parts for the i30 N vehicles include:

  • Carbon rear wing
  • Carbon hood with air vents
  • Quad mufflers
  • N grille with red highlights
  • Lightweight 20-inch rims fitted (with semi-slick tyres)
  • Matt paintwork
  • Black carbon dashboard accents, air vents, door handles
  • Alcantara steering wheel
  • Alcantara upper dashboard
  • Alcantara sport bucket seats
  • Sport pedals

The light weight 20-inch alloy wheels and carbon spoilers are fully sick!

As well as the Hyundai i30 Fastback and new N Option accessories, Hyundai also plans to offer the i30 N Line model, which will be a more affordable, less powerful version of the hot hatch. Clear as mud? Good.

"With our N portfolio we are shaking up the competition, and bringing new performance and emotions for our customers. The development of our N vehicles is grounded in motorsport and our engagement there is the pinnacle of N," said Thomas Schemera, the executive vice-president of Hyundai's high performance vehicles and motorsport division.

"The new i30 N Line and our i30 N 'N Option' show car illustrate our dual approach to customisation, making N available to a wider audience," said Schemera.
