Hyundai IONIQ 6 sedan caught testing

The all-new 2022 Hyundai IONIQ 6 electric sedan has been caught testing ahead of its global launch next year, and this time the spy photographers have captured what's reported to be the production car's cabin.

In a video posted on a Korean Youtube channel, Men's Car MotorsJason caught up with the Hyundai IONIQ 6 at a public charging station, where it can be seen as having borrowed plenty from the well-received 2020 Hyundai Prophecy concept.

Intriguingly, as well as snapping the heavily camouflaged exterior, the Korean cameraman managed to unearth parts of the IONIQ 6's production-ready cabin, including revealing it will come with an updated version of the IONIQ 5's rear-view cameras.

Not shown is a dashboard that's likely to borrow the dual 12.3-inch displays from the IONIQ 5.

Other discoveries include a cabin that will offer acres of rear legroom and a clean, minimalist approach to its cabin, picking up where the IONIQ 5 left off.

Like its crossover sibling, the IONIQ 6 will be based on Hyundai's latest E-GMP architecture it has created for battery-powered vehicles that should enable it to cover up to 500km between top-ups, thanks to its 73kWh battery pack.

The quickest all-wheel drive 230kW dual-motor version will reportedly be capable of sprinting from 0-100km/h in 5.2 seconds. And if that's not enough, an N version of the IONIQ 6 is set to sacrifice range for near-supercar levels of performance.

The entry-level IONIQ 6 will be powered by a single-motor powertrain that should produce around 160kW and drive the rear wheels.

Scheduled to be launched in the second half of 2022, it's believed Hyundai will reveal its IONIQ 6 early next year. An Australian launch has been confirmed but local timing has yet to be announced.
