Hyundai has launched a range of performance parts and accessories for its new second generation Veloster sports car at the SEMA expo in Las Vegas – and the go-fast addons could come to Australia when the new Veloster launches here sometime in 2019.
The range of performance parts for the second-generation Hyundai Veloster comprise Eibach springs, anti-roll bars and light-weight alloy wheels to sharpen handling dynamics and turn-in.
There's also a B&M sport shift kit to improve gear shifts and the Veloster performance parts range is rounded out with a K&N high-flow air filter and a Borla 'axle-back' exhaust system to add a little more voice to the car's 1.6-litre turbo-petrol engine.
It's not clear if the exhaust and air filter liberate any more power from the 150kW/265Nm engine.
Given that Hyundai is unlikely to offer the hard core 202kW/378Nm Hyundai Veloster N in Australia, these performance parts could be the next best thing for owners wanting to retain their five-year warranty.
"This is something we'll look at when we launch the new Veloster in Australia in 2019," said Hyundai Australia's PR manager, Guido Schenken.
The Hyundai exec said that the response to the i30 N has been "huge" which grease the wheels of models like the i30 N Line and wild i30 N Option accessories coming to Australia.
"It shows there's a demand in the market for more performance oriented parts and accessories for the sporty Hyundai models," added Schenken.
The performance parts for the Hyundai Veloster Turbo are dealer-fitted accessories in the US - and would be the same if green-lit for Australia - and therefore will not void owner's warranties.
After the sellout success of the Hyundai i30 N in Australia, the impending arrival of the i30 Fastback N in early 2019 and the launch of the i30 N TCR race car, it's evident the Korean brand wants to build solid foundations for its high-performance brand and gain a strong enthusiast following.
