Hyundai Motorsport GmbH has officially opened the doors to its new headquarters in Alzenau, Germany.
The new facility, measuring 8200 square metres, will house 50 staff from around the world, all dedicated to Hyundai's World Rally Championship campaign next year. Hyundai formed the new company late last year, but the company hasn't had a home before now. The Alzenau premises is well placed to take advantage of the fast transport links throughout the Frankfurt-Rhine-Main region, and is less than 50km from the Hyundai European Technical and Design Centre in Russelsheim (also home base for Opel), and Hyundai Motor Europe head office in Offenbach. And the Alzenau facility will also be close to the test centre at the Nurburgring, when that opens later in the year. “This is a historic day for Hyundai Motor Company,” said Hyundai Executive Vice President & COO, Tak Uk Im, during the opening ceremony. “Not only are we celebrating the opening of the new home of Hyundai Motorsport, but also demonstrating our commitment to improving the performance of all of our cars.”
Attending the ceremony were other Hyundai VIPs from South Korea and global subsidiaries.
“Today marks another important step forward in our thrilling task of developing a motorsport team from scratch as we inaugurate our headquarters,” said Hyundai Motorsport Team Principal Michel Nandan. “We have a challenge ahead of us and we have the perfect facility here to prepare for it.”
