Hyundai preparing limited-edition Veloster Street
Sneaky snapper grabs shots of what appears to be a limited-edition VelosterIn the tradition of the mid-life sales booster, Hyundai appears set to release a limited-edition Veloster likely to go by the name of Street.
A member of the public in the market for the three-door coupe snapped several pictures of said car in the basement carpark of the Korean company’s Sydney headquarters.
It bore all the hallmarks of a limited-edition: metallic grey exterior paintwork not listed among the standard hues, non-standard alloy wheels, a larger rear wing and a red leather interior, also not among the model’s standard colours.
Although unbadged outside, close inspection revealed interior badges suggesting it will go by the name of Street.
The unregistered example our snapper found was a base atmo Veloster auto; Hyundai officials aren’t answering questions about the car at the moment, including price, transmission options and whether the upgrade will extend to the SR Turbo.
If the car finds release in this spec, conventional practice suggests mechanicals will remain unchanged; the enhancements will be limited to aesthetics and small practicalities and the car will draw a relatively small premium over standard spec.
The 1.6-litre atmo Veloster starts at $23,990 (six-speed manual; $26,290 six-speed DCT auto) plus ORCs. The turbocharged SR variant starts at $31,990 (six-speed manual; $34,290 auto) plus ORCs.
