Hyundai and Kia’s owner has launched its next-generation Pleos operating system. Deploying in all its vehicles from the second quarter of 2026, Hyundai Motor Group says it will be installed in over 20 million vehicles by 2030.
Combined with the firm’s next-generation hardware, the new Pleos Connect Infotainment is claimed to be based on an Android Auto operating system, which explains why the first pics of the advanced infotainment are said to mirror a smartphone interface.

From launch, Hyundai says its new infotainment will be “unique, customisable and user-friendly”.
Recently released images also suggest the Korean car-making giant will switch to large freestanding screens, while at the bottom of the touchscreen are Tesla-style shortcut buttons.
Other fresh tech includes Geo AI, which will herald advanced AI-powered voice recognition and a more useful digital assistant.
From next year Hyundai will also debut Pleos ID, which sees a user profile connected to each driver via the cloud. The system will allow a driver’s favourite pre-sets to automatically be applied to any Hyundai or Kia car they drive.

The same software will also improve the user experience for business operators, with Hyundai releasing new management and logistics tools to enhance efficiency for those who run a fleet of cars or vans.
Once the Pleos tech is online in 2026, Hyundai says it will roll out its latest Level 2+ semi-autonomous driving tech towards the end of 2027. The technology will use cameras, radars and artificial deep learning software to recognise a vehicle’s surroundings and make complex decisions based on what it sees to steer you safely along a road.
Full details will be released later, but it’s thought the tech should be capable of hands-off driving and automatic lane changes, although – unlike Level 3 technology – drivers will still have to keep an eye on the road and monitor proceedings.
