Hyundai has distilled its Accent light-car range down to just one grade, the Accent Sport, powered by the 1.6-litre direct-injected engine from the Accent SR.
The new trim level replaces both the Active and SR grades previously available, and the 1.4-litre engine of the entry-level Accent Active has been dropped from the range. Hyundai has hiked the price of the Accent Sport by $500 over the price of the Accent SR.
Engine output and fuel economy figures for the 1.6-litre engine remain 103kW, 167Nm and 6.6L/100km. Although the range has been reduced to the one trim level, the Accent Sport is offered with a choice of manual or automatic transmission – both six-speed units – and in sedan or hatch body styles.
Features fitted as standard include six airbags, 16-inch alloy wheels, air conditioning, Bluetooth connectivity, Apple CarPlay and cruise control. Metallic/mica paint is a $495 option.
"Accent has been an award winner and strong seller for us in the Australian light-car market, and it now offers greater appeal than ever before," says Scott Grant, Hyundai Australia COO.
"With such desirable new features as the 1.6-litre Gamma engine, 16-inch alloys and cruise control now standard – all for just $500 above the outgoing Active's list price – Accent Sport represents an exceptional entry point to Hyundai's range of cars and the great benefits of Hyundai ownership."
Prices apply to both sedan and hatch, and are $15,490* for the manual and $17,490* with the automatic transmission.
