Hyundai Motorsport has pulled the drapes off a Hyundai Veloster N Race Car at the 2019 Detroit motor show.
Created to compete in the 2019 IMSA Michelin Pilot Challenge, the small Korean racer is based on the Veloster N sports car that's been confirmed for Australia, except the Hyundai Veloster N race car gets 261kW -- 59kW more than the road car.
Elsewhere, instead of the six-speed manual gearbox, the Hyundai Veloster N Race Car gets a six-speed sequential transmission that's mated to a proper mechanical front differential.

Sharing as much as 85 per cent components with the Hyundai i30 N touring car that competes in Europe, the latest Veloster N racer is manufactured at Hyundai Motorsport's HQ in Germany.
Externally, the Veloster N race car gets its own bespoke aero that features wider wheel arches to accommodate a considerable increase in front and rear track, plus an aggressive front splitter and a massive rear wing and diffuser combo.

Inside, there's little left of the road car's interior. Instead, there's a stripped out cabin that features a competition seat with six-point harness and full steel roll cage.
Set to make its competition debut later this month in a four-hour endurance race held at the Daytona International Speedway on January 25, the Veloster N race car has been priced from $155,000 (A$215,000).
