It’s cool, quirky, compact, and commands a double-take from just about anyone it passes. It’s the all-new Hyundai Veloster, and it’s available very soon from just $23,990
Showcasing the latest in the Korean brand’s ‘Fluidic Sculpture’ design language, Veloster will be available in two variants locally – Veloster and Veloster + -- each offered with a 103kW direct-injected 1.6-litre four-cylinder married to the choice of six-speed manual or six-speed dual-clutch transmission. Each achieves a combined cycle fuel economy average of 6.4L/100km.
Veloster offers a unique 2+1 door configuration, similar to that found on MINI Clubman. Hyundai says this interesting design allows practicality and individuality. The cabin houses sportsbike-inspired decor and is finished with contemporary metallic highlights.
Entry-level Veloster arrives as standard with 18-inch alloy wheels, daytime running lamps, auto headlamps, rear park assist and reversing camera, a CD-tuner with seven-inch touchscreen, cloth/leatherette seats and cruise control.
Up-spec Veloster + adds push-button start and keyless entry, sunroof, electrically-adjustable leather seats and climate control.
Safety equipment on both models extends to stability control, anti-lock brakes with electronic brake-force distribution, traction control and hill-start assist to achieve a five-star ANCAP safety rating, Hyundai says. Six airbags and tyre pressure monitoring are also standard.
Like all Hyundai passenger cars, Veloster is backed by a five-year unlimited kilometre warranty and one year premium roadside assist.
