Hyundai's New-Look Accent

The new-look Hyundai Accent has been unveiled in Korea but it won't be coming Down Under

Hyundai's face-lifted 2010 Accent small car has broken cover in Korea, where it is badged as the Verna Transform.

The Accent's contemporary new look includes redesigned headlights, updated grille and front fascia and new bumpers sections front all round. The wing mirrors also get integrated indicator signals.

On sale now in South Korea, the new Accent also features an updated rear end design comprised of a new rear bumper assembly with integrated exhaust outlet and different brake lights.

While no major mechanical changes have been outlined for the 2010 Hyundai Accent, the Asian car maker claims that minor changes to the drivetrain will result in improved fuel efficiency and reduced CO2 emissions.

The interior has also been spruced up with minor detail changes to the centre console and an updated instrument cluster with blue back-lighting.

Furthermore, upgrades to the Accent's interior include the adoption of USB and AUX inputs. Bluetooth phone connectivity has also added.

Hyundai has sold just 52 units of the Accent in Australia for 2009 and while the updated Accent is expected to increase interest in the aging model in its domestic market of South Korea, a spokesman for Hyundai Australia says the company has no plans to bring the model here.

As per our earlier report (more here), Hyundai is committed to introducing the i20 light car to the Australian market -- and with the Getz continuing to sell locally, the importer's product range in the light-car segment would have been very squeezy with the new Accent there as well.
