A record wave of new electric vehicles is about to wash over Sydney, and leading the charge is a brand most Australians have never heard of. The all-new iCaur V25 – a boxy, retro-flavoured electric SUV from Chery’s youth-focused sub-brand – will make its Australian debut at Everything Electric Sydney, running at Sydney Showground from September 18-20.
It headlines what organisers say is the biggest line-up of new-model launches the event has ever hosted, with more than 100 EVs of every shape and size crammed under one roof across three big days.?

The Finer Details
The exhibitor hall reads like a who’s who of the new-guard EV world, with BYD, Cadillac, Chery, Farizon, Forthing, GAC, Geely, Genesis, GWM, Hyundai, iCaur, IM, Lepas, MG, Omoda Jaecoo, Polestar, Subaru and Zeekr all on the ground.
The Genesis GV60 Magma will also be on show following its Australian launch in July, joined by several other tyre-shredding heavy hitters like the Cadillac LYRIQ-V.?
As we reported when the show was announced, the whole electrified circus is powered by headline sponsor carsales – so there’ll be plenty of familiar faces on hand to help buyers make sense of the EV maze.
The Road Ahead
Of course, the real fun is getting behind the wheel. Everything Electric Sydney is serving up the Southern Hemisphere’s biggest EV test drive experience, with a whopping 7500 drives up for grabs across the weekend – passenger cars, SUVs, utes, vans and even motorcycles – booked directly with manufacturers on a first-come, first-served basis.
There’s a dedicated micro-mobility track for e-bikes, scooters and skateboards, while exhibitor Hypershell will have its wearable exoskeleton robo-suits on hand for visitors to strap into.
Beyond the metal, more than 130 speakers will front 59 live sessions covering everything from EV myths and charging to home batteries and vehicle-to-grid tech, and free one-on-one consultations will help households weigh up solar, storage and smarter energy.
Tickets start from $20 for Sunday entry, with doors open from 10am daily at Sydney Showground, Sydney Olympic Park, across three days – September 18, 19 and 20.
