The third episode of the carsales original series, Idle Talk, has dropped, with rally and Extreme E and Extreme H star Molly Taylor joining host Feann Torr in the Mad Garage, and then taking a road trip down memory lane in a 1989 Subaru Brumby. Taylor opens up on how a global pandemic – and one utterly unbelievable email – rewrote her motorsport career.

When Subaru's factory rally program shut down during COVID, Taylor thought her driving days were over.
“I thought that was maybe it on my driving career,” she admits.
Then came an email from Nico Rosberg – which she assumed was a prank – that launched her into Extreme E, which she became the champion of in 2021 before going on to be the 2025 Extreme H World Cup champion.

Along the way, she’s lined up against motorsport royalty including Sebastian Loeb, Carlos Sainz (Sr) and Sebastian Vettel at Race of Champions – a roll call she half-jokingly calls “name dropping”.
The episode also covers a brutal Extreme E rollover, her SAS Australia ordeal – she almost won! – and the rally bloodline running through her family, with her mother a five-time Australian Rally Champion.
From karting “sabotage” confessions to debating a WRX engine swap for the Brumby, Taylor proves she’s as comfortable wrenching as she is winning.
